About Purple Unicorn Gaming Hub

Purple Unicorn Gaming Hub started as a Warframe Clan on PlayStation 4 in 2017 with humble beginnings. Purple Unicorn Squad is the name of the Warframe Clan. We did not choose this name; in fact, the universe provided key elements that inspired the name. Warframe defined small groups for each mission as "squads," and wanting it to sound humorously tough, we used it. Purple is an awareness color for many autoimmune diseases, including Lupus. Unicorn was more personal than even that. Once, a medical professional called Snowbird a "unicorn" because of how unique they are and how they can manage with what life has thrown at them; thus, Purple Unicorn Squad was born. We tried all forms of mass communication to keep our ever-growing global group connected. We wanted to be able to organize gaming sessions with our newfound friends so that we could always be sure we made time to have fun with other people. We quickly discovered we were not alone. Gamers all over the world are socially isolated due to specific circumstances. It is usually a personal journey to share this. We wanted a safe space for everyone to express themselves while hosting events and networking with other gamers who also use gaming to cope or escape. Mental health is important to us, as is physical health.

Snowbird, one of our co-founders, has lupus, which has triggered an autoimmune response that has ravaged their body. Being unable to travel a lot or leave home, gaming has allowed them to escape and find friends. They are a prime example of why Purple Unicorn Gaming Hub bloomed into existence.

ObiBinGinObi, being co-founder, could not let it stop there. We wanted to support all content creators for gaming, whether they be graphic artists, streamers, or people who make videos for YouTube. He wanted to make sure that no one was left out. We share tips, tricks, guides, game lore, fanart, and even fanfiction.

 

Charities & Friends

We did all this in the name of making friends and connecting with people in the only way we knew how: by gaming online with friends. We are a safe space gaming Discord server with Content Creator support. We are an LGBTQIA+ gaming community that donates regularly to charity and likes to help others in any way we can.

 

Safe space for LGBTQIA+

LGBTQIA+ is an inclusive term that includes people of all genders and sexualities, such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual, and allies. While each letter in LGBTQIA+ stands for a specific group of people, the term encompasses the entire spectrum of gender fluidity and sexual identities.
